SUMMARY

The Work-Study Employment Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the broader Student Employment mission of the Career Center. This position oversees the administration of the Federal Work-Study program from a student employment perspective, partnering with Student Financial Aid and Human Resources to ensure compliance, efficient processes, and strong support for students, families, supervisors, and campus partners.

The Coordinator also supports two Federal Work-Study funded programs. First, Mizzou PALS (Preschool Active Learning Service), is a career readiness program matching trained college students with children enrolled in Columbia Public Schools to enhance their language, literacy, and social-emotional skills. Second, the Community Service Work-Study program is a collaboration with the Office of Community Engaged Learning to connect eligible students with employment in local community agencies.

Through employer engagement, training, program evaluation, and collaborative partnerships, the Coordinator enhances meaningful employment experiences that promote student success and community impact.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Coordinate the Federal Work-Study Employment Program
•    Support student and employer recruitment efforts, systems, and platforms related to Federal Work-Study employment. Responsibilities include promoting job opportunities, assisting with recruiting events, and helping students navigate onboarding processes.
•    Manage the Work-Study Employment System including reviewing and approving job postings, training system users, troubleshooting issues, and recommending improvements to IT professionals.
•    Work with current and potential employers and prepare them for employing Mizzou Work-Study students. This includes identifying Community Service Work-Study employer participants and developing employment agreements in collaboration with the Office of Community Engaged Learning.
•    Serve as a primary resource for resolving concerns throughout the student employee life cycle, including responding to general inquiries, offering job search coaching, supporting students through pre-onboarding, and addressing on-the job challenges.
•    Provide training opportunities to student employees, campus supervisors, and community partners. Topics may include student career and professional development, workplace expectations, reflective learning practices, and program specific training for Mizzou PALS and Community Service Work-Study.
•    Serve as the Work-Study Contact for Mizzou PALS and the Community Service Work-Study program. This includes submitting and tracking hires and Work-Study awards. In addition, this   position will provide support for payroll processing and course credit enrollment for students employed in these two programs.
•    Communicate clearly and consistently with key stakeholders (students, families, on-campus employers, and campus offices) to ensure understanding of Federal Work-Study processes, requirements, and opportunities.
•    Collaborate regularly with Student Financial Aid, Human Resources, Shared Services, and Community Engaged Learning.
•    Assess program effectiveness through data tracking and collecting stakeholder input to continuously make improvements.

Additional Responsibilities
•    Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of federal regulations, best practices, and emerging trends related to student employment and Federal Work-Study.
•    Collaborate closely with the Senior Coordinator of Student Employment on overlapping processes, communication, training sessions, and events.
•    Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the Career Center and university.
