General Description/Primary Purpose: 

The Department of Leadership, Organization, and Community Impact (LOCI) is seeking a non-tenure earning, Visiting Instructor/Executive in Residence of Sport Management. The candidate will support the Sport Management program through excellence in teaching, mentorship, and community engagement. Primary responsibilities include teaching a variety of undergraduate sport management courses, overseeing practicum and internship experiences, and providing service to the program, college, university, and the broader sport community. To serve as an Executive in Residence, this position requires recent and significant sport industry experience of 15 plus years.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach three (3) undergraduate courses per semester across diverse areas of sport management (e.g., sport law, contemporary issues in sport, facility and event management, data analytics, finance, communications, etc.)

  • Mentor and advise students to support academic and professional success

  • Supervise fieldwork, practicum, and internship experiences

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with the sport industry to enhance student learning, internship opportunities, and workforce readiness

 

Supervisor: This position will report to the Department Chair.

Supervision Exercised: This is not a supervisory role.

Required Licensure: N/A

   

Required Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in Sport Management or related field (related field will be considered along with recent and significant sport industry executive level experience)

  • Demonstrated potential as an effective teacher and mentor 

  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to teach a wide variety of courses within the Sport Management curriculum

  • Fifteen (15) years of relevant professional industry experience in the sport industry 

  • Strong professional network within the sport industry
