Job Summary
ServiceNow employee will assist in the analysis of specific organizational and procedural problems and in the design or modification of computer programs to implement computer applications; test and debug new programs to verify their accuracy and completeness. 
Oversees the university’s service management software in a system administrator role and
creates scripts to automate processes and improve efficiency.
This position falls under the sUdo program which are functional units within University Information Technology (UIT) where student interns work.
Responsibilities
Checks system logs for errors.
Starts jobs and monitors logs to ensure the successful completion of jobs.
Deploys and maintains IT systems.
Develops systems using IT languages applicable for the architecture.
Replaces IT hardware in university buildings and data centers.
Performs physical inventory of IT systems and updates IT documentation.
Answers main phone line and routes call as needed.
Monitors system health in monitoring systems.
Process requests within the established standard time.
Routes requests to the appropriate resource.
Updates request ticket status when task is completed.
Notifies engineers when problems are detected.
Performs task necessary for the efficient operations of the systems.
Maintains applicable IT documentation associated with work activities.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
Effective verbal and writing communication skills.
Superior interpersonal and customer service skills required including ability to work efficiently in a team environment.
High level of proficiency in effective problem solving.
Specific knowledge required in the following areas: TCP/IP, MS SMS, MS SharePoint, Active Directory, network security, server operating systems, programming languages, database, etc.
Ability to lift and carry various weight and diameter of equipment.
Ability to climb a stepladder.
