This part-time instructor will be required to teach classes to Upward Bound participants, who are teens from several local area target high schools. The instructor will be expected to possess outstanding teaching skills for a diverse population of participants and maintain classroom etiquette conducive to learning. Also, the instructor will be required to maintain grades for each participant. . The Summer Enrichment Program will be held at Upson Lee High School in Thomaston, Georgia, which is located approximately 100 miles from Atlanta Metropolitan State College. 

  • Provide instruction in scientific investigation in subject/content 

  • Demonstrate scientific concepts using models, overhead projector, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aides that support student¿s learning styles, group interaction, and real-world application.

  • Establish classroom management policies and procedures needed to maintain a productive, conducive classroom environment.

  • Work with Upward Bound staff to integrate special subject lessons and activities with the core academic curriculum.

  • Attend teacher orientation/planning session(s), program activities, & final teacher evaluation closing session.                                                              

 

Bachelor or Master¿s degree in related subject area. Two years of teaching experience/instruction at the high school or college/university level. Ability to work with diverse and underserved students.

The applicant must have the ability to work with diverse and underserved students. Preference will be given to candidates who have similar backgrounds as program participants

 

Stipend up to $1000
