East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track professor of Professional & Secondary Education. Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.
The successful candidate will join a department committed to excellence and innovation in teaching and learning across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, and will be committed to shepherding masters and principal certification students. The candidate will contribute to educational leadership and teacher preparation courses by modeling effective pedagogy and fostering an intellectually curious, inclusive, and equitable learning environment in face-to-face, blended, and online modalities. Additional responsibilities may include supervising student teachers and principal interns, as well as serving on department, college, dissertation, and university committees. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active record of teaching, scholarship, and service in education or related fields, and to develop professional partnerships that strengthen and enrich the learning community.
Qualifications:
Successful administrative k-12 experience.
Doctorate degree in education.
3 to 5 years of successful teaching experience in secondary schools (Grades 6-12).
Record of successful experience working collaboratively with a diverse group of faculty, students, and school personnel through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service.
Demonstrated record of scholarship with presentations or peer-reviewed publications.
Knowledge or experience with curriculum development processes.
Expertise in teacher pedagogy and educational leadership development that variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Ability to collaborate with diverse internal and external partners.
Excellent oral/written communication skills.
Effectively implement technology in teaching and learning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a Pennsylvania principal with certification and work in central administration.
Demonstrated potential for success in college teaching and contributing to academic program development at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.
Experience facilitating teacher and educational leader development as a supervisor, department chair, instructional coach, or facilitator of professional development.
Use of learning managements systems for course development and emerging technologies.
Experience with in person, hybrid, multi-modal, synchronous, asynchronous, and Distance Education.
Involvement in professional associations and personal professional development.
Implementation of innovative pedagogies such as emancipatory teaching/learning, learning sciences, personalized learning, and field-based programs.
Experience with accreditation processes.
