Job Summary/Description
Responsible for co‑leading, managing, and developing multiple technology service teams, including Applications, Educational Technology, as well as Web/Mobile services. This role serves as a key operational and project delivery partner within IT, coordinating the planning, execution, and support of technology initiatives in close collaboration with internal IT teams, campus stakeholders, and external vendors.
The position ensures the reliable delivery of technology services in a 24/7/365 environment with a low tolerance for downtime, while also playing an active role in project management, cross‑functional coordination, and continuous service improvement.
Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, training and mentoring employees and student workers, performance evaluation, work prioritization, and scheduling.
Typical Duties/Job Duties
  • Provide leadership and direction to teams in the delivery of new technology services through the use of standard project management methodologies. Guide and direct teams to ensure that activities and deliverables are met in a timely fashion and that the customer expectations are met or exceeded for the new service. Responsible for development and retention of staff both technically and professionally.
  • Responsible for implementing and managing a strategy for the timely recovery of services to ensure data integrity and high service availability. Manage and forecast resource loads and financial aspects for new initiatives.
  • Develop and mentor student workers to support the delivery of new technology services for the ASU campus. Responsible for helping develop a vision and plan for growing ASU technology needs and new innovative services through collaboration with the ASU community, peer institutions, state requirements, and industry trends.
  • Responsible for on-going communication and collaboration with ASU customers, peer team members, and ASU leadership. Foster vendor relationships to leverage their resources to add value to the overall mission of ASU.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security Team to ensure security policies and standards are followed and enforced. Work in partnership with other IT team members and campus officials to ensure execution of disaster recovery and business continuity testing.
  • Develop and implement initiatives for campus refresh plans for faculty/staff, labs and classroom technology. Responsible for managing costs and budget related items.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Knowledge
    • Knowledge of leadership, development, and motivation of technical teams
    • Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee supervision, training, and performance management
    • Knowledge of managing a 24/7 operational environment with a low tolerance for downtime
    • Knowledge of the ITIL framework
    • Knowledge of basic project coordination principles within an IT or service delivery environment
    • Knowledge of applicable University rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

    • Ability to support and assist in the administration of a large networked desktop, application, and service environment
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, M.I.S. or related field required plus four (4) years experience in providing support and delivery of technology services.
    • Additional experience in the management and support of Applications, Educational Technology, and Web Services may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
    • Strong project management, leadership and interpersonal skills are required.
