Position Summary:

The Assistant Regional Coordinator’s main role is to provide support to the Regional Coordinator in providing a quality contest experience for students and teachers. This individual will work during the period January 1st, 2026- May 29th, 2026. 

Job Duties:

  • Contacting local schools to promote and elicit participation.
  • Work with teachers and students throughout their research process during the regular contest season.
  • Maintain a social media presence to promote the affiliate relationship to the State contest.
  • Recruit judges and volunteers for the regional contest.
  • Take photos of award recipients and their projects at the regional contest.
  • Schedule the contest for the registered participants from the region.
  • Form judging teams for the region.
  • Communicate contest details to judges, teachers, and students in a timely and organized fashion for the region.
  • Maintain communication with the State Office about regional updates.
  • Volunteer at the State NHDC contest.
  • Attend state NHDC events as needed.
  • Attend the annual regional coordinator meetings: fall, spring.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.A. in History
  • Three (3) or more years teaching History in secondary or post-secondary setting
  • Previous experience in history-related research and writing
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs, detail-oriented organization, etc.
