| Job Summary/Basic Function | This position will serve as student video production manager in the Department of Student Media, and as an instructor in media production, teaching courses in video, television, media production, film production, and related media skills in the Department of Theater and the Department of Communication, and fill other roles as assigned. |
| Specific Responsibilities | Teach up to four classes per year, or the equivalent of twelve credit hours per year, as assigned by the Department of Theater or the Department of Communication in collaboration with the Executive Director of Student Media. Foster the production of news, sports and features video content for Student Media outlets, including websites and social media channels. Oversee supporting websites and social media channels, specifically those used to distribute the news and talk shows. Provide quality control. Recruit and train students to use video equipment in the field and studio and in production techniques such as video shooting, lighting, performance, set design, shot composition, video editing, and scripting for broadcast news, sports, and feature productions. Provide students with timely feedback. Supervise student employees to ensure that they are gaining a professional-level work experience and career training. Monitor and maintain Sycamore Video equipment to ensure equipment is operational and repaired or replaced as needed. Stay current on video equipment and production methods. Work with students in Sycamore Video to produce multimedia content, utilizing facilities in Student Media. Foster collaboration among students in Sycamore Video and other units in Student Media. Perform other duties as assigned. |
| Required Relevant Education & Experience | Master’s degree or higher. One to three years of professional experience. |
| Required Field(s) of Study | Broadcasting, digital media, media production, mass communications, or related field. |
| Preferred Relevant Education and Experience | Knowledge of or experience in virtual production, and experience teaching in a higher education setting. |
| Supervisory Responsibilities | Has authority or responsibility for the supervision of student workers or graduate assistants only. |
