Career Services is seeking a creative, organized, and self-motivated student to help design and produce marketing materials, maintain social media presence, and support communication initiatives for the department. Check out uaa.careers on Facebook and Instagram to learn more about what we do. 

Training and education will be provided, the proper candidate will have a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and be prepared to accomplish the duties of the job independently after 1-2 months of training and mentorship. This position will be hybrid, with the majority of the work being completed remotely after the training has been completed. 

Duties:

  • Create marketing materials including flyers, digital ads, social media assets, etc. utilizing CanvaPro

  • Manage department’s social media presence (e.g. Facebook, Instagram), including sourcing content, scheduling posts, and developing ideas for increasing outreach.

  • Create career education posts and/ or Instagram Reels

  • Record videos spotlighting employer partners

  • Edit video recordings for Instagram Reels and YouTube Videos

  • Participate in creative discussions about new campaigns and promotions for Career Services programs and be open to critique and evolution of creative work.

  • Use critical thinking and design skills to assist in the creation of print and digital pieces, while adhering to UAA’s brand standards.

  • Provide in-person support for events and career fairs 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

The successful candidate will be tech-savvy, creative, organized and self motivated. 

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Ability to communicate with the team in a professional and courteous manner 

  • Strong desire to learn new things, embrace the notion of continuous improvement, and contribute to a team.

  • Commitment to producing quality design work

  • Ability to manage social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram)

  • Familiar with Canva or other graphic design software

  • Ability to record videos using an Iphone 16 Pro 

  • Ability to learn how to edit using iMovie, Capcut or Canva

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines

Minimum Qualifications:

To be eligible for this student position, candidate must:
a. Be admitted and enrolled in a University of Alaska degree-seeking program with a minimum of six credit hours for undergraduate students or six credit hours for graduate students during regular semesters of employment; or
b. Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and
c. Have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) , 2.5 term grade point average or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or his/her designee, and maintain successful academic progress.
d. Students enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer.
e. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.
f. Position reappointment is contingent upon successful progress toward degree completion and performance evaluation.

Position Details:

This is a Student Assistant 2 position working about 20 hours/week. The pay is $15.26/hr.

This position is open to undergraduate students only.
