Job Summary/Basic Function
Staff reception desk at the University Art Gallery. Greet visitors. Answer visitor and telephone inquiries about the Gallery’s exhibitions and programs, the Permanent Art Collection, or the Department of Art and Design. Safeguard artwork on display. Assist in installation/deinstallation of exhibitions throughout three exhibition spaces on campus.

Job Duties


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties
  • Staff reception desk, answer telephone, greet visitors.
  • Answer questions about the gallery and its programs, Permanent Art Collection, Department of Art and Design.
  • Stamp Art Forum cards.
  • Safeguard artwork by monitoring movement of visitors, halting running, etc. and disallowing food and beverages in the Gallery.
  • Instruct visitors to leave large bags or backpacks at the reception desk.
  • Open and close gallery: turn off electronics, check back door, set alarm, etc.
  • Assist in installation/deinstallation of exhibitions throughout three exhibition spaces on campus.
  • Staff Gallery openings as assigned (assist with setup and removal of refreshments and equipment).
  • Other duties as assigned by the University Gallery Director/Gallery Manager
