| Essential Job Duties | This position is responsible for all aspects of the machine shop, designing and fabricating special equipment, rigging and moving and setting up laboratories and equipment – existing and new for the entire department. This requires a wide range of abilities including: machining, welding, fabricating, designing, engineering, rebuilding equipment, etc. When relocating and setting up laboratories on the scale that the department does, situations occur when possible human injury as well as potential damage to sensitive very expensive equipment can occur. Any and all mistakes are very costly and must be avoided. This position requires the ingenuity to solve these critical problems independently and safely for the individuals, research equipment and facilities. In this position you also must be able to lift over 100 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation. These operations carry a high level of financial and operational risk to research objectives as well. This position must execute these equipment moves quickly, safely, and inexpensively. Additionally, the position must be able to make critical decisions: because of the risk level financial and otherwise, mistakes of judgement are catastrophic. |
