Position Summary

The University Of New Mexico College of Nursing (CON) is seeking a Program Specialist that is goal-oriented, resourceful, and self-motivated to provide technical assistance for Simulation scenario events for both graduate and undergraduate education.

The Program Specialist will assist with administrative operations of the Health Sciences Albuquerque and Health Sciences Rio Rancho Simulation Centers to address the educational needs of the students across all programs. The Program Specialist will be responsible for assisting with the set up and maintenance of simulation scenarios, including the arrangement and maintenance of high, medium and low fidelity manikins, simulation software, medical equipment, and various lab supplies required to ensure successful, safe and academically appropriate clinical education.

Additional duties and responsibilities are: 

  • Attend Education Management Solutions (EMS), the Simulation IQ manufacturer, out-of-state Summits; periodic local training and monthly webinars to stay informed on upgrades and education
  • Following two years of simulation experience, this position will work toward simulation certification (Certified HealthCare Simulation Operation Specialist, CHSOS)
  • Flexibility of hours and travel are required for Albuquerque and Health Sciences Rio Rancho Campus 
  • Requires handling of manikins with an average-weight up to 50 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day due to simulations running

The selected applicant must maintain a primary residence in the Albuquerque area (including surrounding communities such as Rio Rancho, Los Lunas, Belen, Edgewood, and Santa Fe), and be able to reliably commute to the College of Nursing in Albuquerque

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Familiarity with medical and clinical care concepts and terminology
  • Experience with technologies hardware and software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
