General Description / Primary Purpose

  • Performs all functions providing custodial services to the University of North Florida Housing facilities and coordinates projects with the Custodial Superintendent.

  • May participate in the 24-hour on-call rotation with other Custodial staff members.

Job Functions

  • Assign tasks to a crew of Custodial Workers.

  • May supervise Custodial staff, and their work, in the absence of the Custodial Superintendent.

  • Instruct Custodial Workers in cleaning techniques and may provide training to Custodial Workers as deemed appropriate.

  • Maintains knowledge of disinfecting procedures, complex new chemical cleaners and their safe use, floor cleaning machines, and pressure washing machines.

  • Cleans and maintains halls, common areas, postal facility, stairwells, courtyards, parking areas, elevators and building entrance areas, and grounds areas.

  • Cleans and maintains floors, sometimes using floor machines, buffers, and scrubbers.

  • Cleans and maintains residential student lounges.

  • Cleans and maintain public lounge appliances.

  • Cleans and maintains room, apartments and suites.

  • Cleans glass windows, doors and window blinds.

  • Performs cleaning according to blood borne pathogens regulations.

Marginal Functions

  • Special set-up requests.

  • Provides manpower during Housing events and cleans up after events.

  • Completes Work orders.

  • Works during Check-outs and check-ins.

  • Help keep residential break and storage areas neat and clean.

 

Required Qualifications

Completion of ninth (9th) grade required and 1+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Some positions may require possession of a classified driver’s license appropriate to a type of vehicle operated.
