The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Residence Life Graduate Assistant on the Dahlonega campus. This is a 10-month live-in staff position. The Graduate Assistant will assist the Office of Housing and Residence Life with special projects, residence hall management, community development, and new initiatives. The successful applicant should be currently enrolled or plan to enroll in a graduate program at UNG by the Fall 2026 semester. The successful applicant will assist with special projects, the supervision of student staff within the residence halls and serve in an on-call rotation. The position reports to the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life. 

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and holds the responsibility of serving as a mandatory reporter for all Clery Act crimes. 

  • Assist with the management of a residence hall of 250-500 students, including overseeing community development and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Maintains prominent level of visibility within the assigned residential areas. Assist with coordinating health and safety compliance processes and reporting, including fire drills, health and safety checks, and access control issues. Assist with the opening/closing of residence halls. Serves in an on-call rotation with other professional staff. Assist with handling first level residence hall discipline issues and roommate conflicts. Assists with special projects for the department.
  • Assist with directly supervising approximately 10 -15 Resident Assistants, including bi-weekly one-on-one meetings, attending hall programs. Assists in RA training and selection. Holds Resident Assistants accountable for health and safety, and other requirements. Assist the Residence Hall Council, providing guidance and support on issues affecting residential students.
  • Provides office coverage in the residence halls and or Housing and Residence Life Office.
  • Participates in Residence Life strategic planning and assessment efforts. Assist in developing, preparing, and presenting departmental information and communication for events such as RA meetings and staff training. Serves on departmental committees.
  • Follows up, supports, and refers students of concern who are experiencing challenges in the residence hall(s) or are in crisis. Assists students with problem solving, mediation, and crisis management.

  • Bachelor's degree at the time of start date required.
  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a graduate assistant.
  • Experience living in university housing required.
  • Experience as a Resident Assistant strongly preferred.
