The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The Zuckerman Institute is seeking a flexible and highly motivated individual to serve as a part-time Research Staff Assistant in neural data analysis at the Center for Theoretical Neuroscience. The goal of the Center is to establish, through the quality of the research, the excellence of its trainees, and the impact of its visitors, dissemination, and outreach programs, a new cooperative paradigm that will move neuroscience to unprecedented levels of discovery and understanding.
The group will ensure mentoring of the trainee in terms of learning to use state-of-the art software and data analysis techniques and in terms of research and career in modern neuroscience. The PI will guide the trainee in the choice of analysis method but the trainee will be welcome to develop or use alternative methods. The PI will coordinate the project in collaboration with the trainee.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design, implementation, and analysis of machine learning models for computer vision tasks (40%).
- Analysis of natural scene statistics in aquatic and terrestrial environments (40%).
- Design of models to learn texture statistics from aquatic scenes (20%)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor?s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer science, Statistics, Neuroscience.
- Minimum of six months of relevant research experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Past experience with mathematical analysis of machine learning models trained on computer vision tasks, programming, and statistics, as well as an interest in the empirical, behavior, and theoretical aspects of computational vision.
- The ideal candidate must show an ability to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail. They must be flexible in nature and exhibit a willingness to learn new techniques and function in a fast-paced and changing work environment. They must possess strong organizational skills, keep excellent notes, show sound judgment, and have a collaborative style that fosters teamwork and cooperation as well as the ability to work independently within a diverse and dynamic team environment
