RESEARCH ENGINEER II - (T229818)
Description
Early-career Embedded Electrical Engineering position for UAB's Engineering and Innovative Technology Development (EITD) group. Develops viable embedded electrical system and component designs based on project requirements and specifications and assist in development, manufacture, maintenance, sustainment, and operational support of payload systems for space applications. Develops detailed engineering documents and electrical drawings and/or CAD models for use in fabrication and assembly of complex engineering hardware and devices. Reviews and checks engineering drawings produced by others for adherence to technical specifications and requirements. Assists in the development and utilization of SPICE models to supplement design or debugging efforts. Assists with benchtop prototyping of component and board level designs for iterative testing and integration. Demonstrate effective technical communication to guide fabrication and assembly efforts, and work closely with engineers of other disciplines to develop high reliability integrated systems.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
· Assists in design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.
· Support meetings, teleconferences, and travel as required by projects.
· Reports to EITD Electrical Engineering Section Lead
· Performs simple and routine engineering design tasks with standard techniques.
· Assists more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods and reports.
· Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.
Salary Range: $67,070 – $108,990
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering related field. Four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

· SPICE Modeling and Analysis for embedded systems design
· Microcontroller Programming/Prototyping Experience
