Position Summary

The K12 (Dental Specialty and PhD Program) Training Grant in the UCLA School of Dentistry, led by Professor Yvonne L. Hernandez-Kapila, seeks a motivated Research Data Analyst I to assist in a translational research program focused on expanding oral, dental, and craniofacial research while also participating in career development activities (presentations at professional meetings, preparation of manuscripts/publications, grant submissions). The incumbent will support ongoing research projects by assisting with the execution of experiments and processing, organization, and analysis of data focused on oral, dental, craniofacial research. The position will also provide support with sharing/communicating findings in presentations and publications, under close supervision of the Principal Investigator and senior researchers/mentoring team.

Qualifications
  • Exposure to analysis of sequencing, single cell sequencing, or multi-omics datasets, with willingness to learn and apply new analytical methods; especially data related to oral, dental, craniofacial s (Required)
  • Interest in developing skills in biological or biomedical data analysis; especially data related to oral, dental, craniofacial sciences (Required)
  • Familiarity with oral, dental craniofacial sciences. (Required)
  • Basic knowledge of, or experience using computational tools. (Required)
  • Basic experience in one or more of the following: Python, R, SQL, or Bash (Required)
  • Interest in learning bioinformatics and data analysis methods (Required)
  • Introductory knowledge in sequencing (WGS, BS-seq, scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, or CITE-seq) (Required)
  • Ability to learn to integrate, analyze, and visualize biological datasets under supervision. (Required)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to follow established research protocols. (Required)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (Required)
  • Ability to work both independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. (Required)

  • Bachelor's Degree Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Oral Biology, Molecular/Cell Biology, or related field. (Required)
  • Master's Degree Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Oral Biology, Molecular/Cell Biology, or related field. (Preferred)
  • PhD Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Oral Biology, Molecular/Cell Biology, or related field. (Preferred)
