About the Role:

The postdoc will work with Fermilab's quantum sensing group to develop new quantum metrology techniques to measure extremely weak forces such as that exerted by dark matter. The research will focus on establishing rudimentary, few-qubit quantum processing units as the front-end electronics for detector control and readout, using techniques derived from both superconducting and bosonic quantum computing.

Appointment is for a specific term, calculated from the time of arrival at Fermilab. Term may be extended as appropriate.

Postdoc position is funded from the new award "Developing Quantum 2.0 Resources for Dark Matter Detection" from the DOE-OHEP QuantISED 2.0 program. The postdoc will design, fabricate and operate superconducting quibit devices as front-end electronics for new quantum-enabled experiments as described in the awarded proposal.

What your day-to-day as a Research Associate at Fermilab will look like:

• Design, build, install or commission detectors implementing novel quantum sensors and quantum electronics. • Participate in data acquisition, conduct analysis and present/publish outcomes at conferences and/or in refereed journals. • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. • Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

Appointees usually have recently completed their PhD (often within the last two years) or are expected to complete it within the current calendar year.

Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Demonstrated potential to make contributions to the Laboratory that will subsequently qualify them for appointment as an Associate Scientist.
