Brief Position Overview
This is an on-campus, in-office position based at Montana State University. Duties for this position include maintaining a strong knowledge of MORH/AHEC program requirements, timelines, and deliverables while coordinating with partners statewide, facilitating communication, supporting leadership, and ensuring project goals are met through collaboration and regular progress tracking. In addition, this position oversees financial and grant-related activities—including budgeting, compliance, reporting, and data tracking—while serving as a liaison to stakeholders and contributing to research, reporting, and process improvements that support organizational initiatives.

General Statement
The Montana Office of Rural Health and Area Health Education Center (MORH/AHEC) is dedicated to strengthening healthcare across Montana. We work as a unified force to address the unique healthcare challenges facing our state. These foundational investments enable us to pursue additional funding, expand our reach, and ensure rural communities have access to the healthcare training and support they need.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Have a strong working knowledge of project requirements, deliverables, and timelines across programs, ensuring MORH/AHEC goals are met on schedule.
  • Represent MORH/AHEC in coordination efforts with partnering organizations and stakeholders.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively disseminate information with partners located across the state.
  • Monitor compliance with financial and grant guidelines in collaboration with internal teams and University partners.
  • Track and review financial records to ensure accuracy and alignment with University and grant requirements.
  • Coordinate and monitor subawards, including review of invoices and deliverables, tracking progress toward project milestones, and ensuring compliance with federal, University, and grant-specific requirements.
  • Assist with the coordination and monitoring of budgets and contracts to ensure project goals are supported.
  • Compile and share financial data and reporting materials to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Track grant-related transactions and coordinate with appropriate departments to ensure timely processing and accurate documentation.
  • Serve as a point of contact for subrecipients to support communication, provide guidance, and ensure timely reporting and documentation.
  • Assist the Director and Assistant Director – Grants Administrator with MORH/AHEC projects.
  • Facilitate and collaborate on regular team check-ins and status meetings to review grant programs and project plans.
  • Collaborate with office staff to understand partner progress across grant programs.
  • Coordinate financial components of MORH/AHEC projects, including budget planning, grant reporting timelines, and communication with funding entities.
  • Serve as a liaison between MORH/AHEC and stakeholders, facilitating information flow and follow-up on action items.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of financial tracking processes to enhance project efficiency and support strategic initiatives.
  • Research, write reports, and develop presentations on rural health topics and other MORH/AHEC projects.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management, including data collection/management and compliance oversight.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently, exercising sound judgment, and making consistent decisions with minimal supervision, with progressively responsible experience including interpreting policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple simultaneous projects, working efficiently under pressure, and managing conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated competence using personal computers and software, including word processing, spreadsheets, database / relational information systems, and email. Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, health care or public health management, or other closely related field.
  • Knowledge of applicable College and University policies and procedures.
  • Experience utilizing knowledge specialized to research, grant management, budgets, procurement, and contract management.
