Position Summary

The UNM Health Sciences Center Chief Information Office is looking for an experienced application owner to support various HSC departments with their application requirements. This position will serve as a member of the development team in the Health Sciences Information Technology (HSIT) Web and Applications unit. HSIT provides primary IT support for administration, academic, and research operations at the Health Sciences Center.
The successful applicant will provide backup support to more senior members of the team in Zoom administration, Linux based learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle, and Microsoft 365/SharePoint administration. They will work closely with other IT departments across the University and are expected to collaborate with our partners and counterparts in the UNM Health System (clinical operations) in the management of enterprise-wide shared services.
This position will work under indirect supervision, and should possess extensive knowledge and experience in website, web application, and mobile application development and have experience supporting third party applications such as Zoom, Moodle, Microsoft 365 and SharePoint. They will guide users/customers in formulating system requirements and advise on alternatives and on the implications of creating new or updating current computer systems/applications. They will analyze customer project proposals, identify omissions and errors in requirements, and conduct feasibility studies including recommending optimum approaches and developing system designs for approved projects.
This position will review design, analyze, and code for quality and adherence to standards. They will use ASP.Net, C#, Blazor, SQL Server to develop web-based applications using the MVC Framework. They may serve as lead analysts in a design subgroup, directing and integrating the work of analysts, each responsible for several programs. They could also prepare and give presentations to user management. The position will develop new and maintain existing complex systems and subsystems for web-based applications. They are responsible for maintaining their knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems and applications.
 The successful applicant should possess a thorough understanding of the values, practices and procedures found in an Academic Health Center and possess a commitment to mentoring and developing technical staff. All members of the HSIT Web and Applications unit must demonstrate a commitment to consistently, responsive and high quality customer services to departments and end users.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise
  • Experience with web development using C#, .NET and SQL Server
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and the various applications in the suite, specifically SharePoint
  • Experience with Linux based administration and scripting / programming, Windows PowerShell a plus
  • Knowledge of modern system and application architecture, protocols, design and best practices
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Experience with cloud-based applications and tools – administration and support
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work effectively with wide range of constituencies
  • Ability to translate user needs to innovative application solutions
