Brief Position Overview
The Foundational Education Program Director, is responsible for the overall success of Gallatin College’s AA/AS and Developmental Education programs. In collaboration, with Associate Dean and Department Chairs, hires, supervises, and develops faculty. Oversight includes, improving enrollment, retention, and completion goals. All responsibilities are carried out in compliance with state law, federal law, college policy and procedures and accreditation standards.

General Statement
Gallatin College at Montana State University (MSU) is Southwest Montana’s two-year college, offering associate degrees and one-year professional certificates. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Hire and supervise all AA/AS faculty, up to 30 part-time, and one tenured faculty.
  • Support Developmental Math and Writing Humanities department chairs in hiring NTT faculty.
  • In alignment with the Associate Dean and Department Chairs, Supervise the Tenure and Tenure Track Faculty in AA/AS and Developmental Math and Writing.
  • In collaboration with Department Chairs, schedule and maintain courses and classrooms, and labs for all AA/AS and Developmental Education offerings.
  • In alignment with the Student Success team, participate in student orientation and advising.
  • Data tracking and creating institutional data reports for responsible programs.
  • Collaborates with Associate Dean in planning and developing faculty orientations, and professional development/training.
  • College admin responsibilities (data tracking/creating ‘institutional’ data reports)
  • Liaison contact for MSU on all student transfer projects, core content, and grant activities that are appropriate.
  • In alignment the leadership team develops new courses, curriculum, outcomes, and relevant assessments in program area.
  • Performs annual reviews for tenure and tenure track faculty.
  • Collaborates with Associate Dean for program evaluation and assessments of AA/AS and Developmental Math and Writing.
  • In partnership with Associate Dean develops and implements training for Gallatin College NTT faculty.
  • Maintain and organize annual meetings with an AA/AS advisory group that provides feedback on college outcomes and vision.
  • Participates on the MSU CORE committee and other GC/MSU committees as directed.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Master’s Degree in related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in higher education curriculum development and course oversight.
  • 5 years’ teaching experience in higher education
  • Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • PhD or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising Tenure Track and Non-Tenure Track Faculty.
  • Experience in Program Evaluation and Review.
  • Experience with developmental education delivery.

    Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
    • Evening work schedules and hours are occasionally required to oversee evening faculty.
    • Special events and work during those special events will be required.
