| Job Summary | This is an Internal Employment Opportunity. The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences is seeking a Program Director, Environmental Sciences. This is a part-time (0.25 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. In the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS), program directors serve as the primary administrators with direct oversight of the functioning and success of the degree program. This position serves as the director of the undergraduate degree program in Environmental Sciences. The incumbent provides leadership and oversight of curriculum, enrollment, and student success. |

| Key Responsibilities | 30% – Program Leadership and Planning Provides vision for the direction of the program and leads strategic planning in pursuit of excellence, equity, and the college’s and university’s strategic goals. Represents the program on the CEOAS Undergraduate Program Committee. Leads periodic program reviews. Leads and coordinates program participation in engagement activities and representation at professional conferences. Coordinates with academic advising staff on undergraduate degree and program planning. Coordinates with directors and advisors of partner programs within CEOAS and other colleges, with Ecampus, and with other OSU campuses. Represents the program or college on university committees. Represents the degree program at student ceremonies, such as CEOAS awards and commencement. Meets with the CEOAS Board of Advisors. 25% – Student Success Acts as the point of contact for student success for Environmental Sciences undergraduate students. Fosters student engagement and community building and works actively to improve the program’s culture to make it more inclusive and welcoming. Collaborates with Student Services on student success including making students aware of extracurricular opportunities and supporting the Assistant Director of Career Development & Experiential Learning in sustaining and expanding experiential learning opportunities for students. Acts as the point of contact in student-faculty conflicts and academic misconduct situations. Oversees undergraduate award nominations and evaluations. Writes recommendations for student applications to graduate school, internships, scholarships, or jobs. 20% – Curriculum and Course Scheduling Manages and coordinates the undergraduate Environmental Sciences academic program. Leads curriculum development, including evaluation of courses for inclusion in the degree and regularly reviews the curriculum to keep it up to date with course offerings and program priorities. Provides course scheduling forecasts to the CEOAS Class Scheduler and Geography and Environmental Sciences Unit Chair and supports the Geography and Environmental Sciences Unit Chair in the assignment of teaching. Reviews, approves, and transmits course and program change proposals to the Undergraduate Program Committee. Maintains awareness of revisions and changes to curricula and registration policies at the university level. Ensures that transfer credit recognition and the schedule of classes provide viable paths for student progress in the Environmental Sciences undergraduate degree. In collaboration with the CEOAS Assistant/Associate Deans supporting undergraduate programs, oversees and ensures effective program assessment, including development, revision, and annual assessment of learning outcomes and tracking of assessment metrics. 15% – Admissions and Enrollment Management Coordinates with Student Services, CEOAS Assistant/Associate Deans supporting undergraduate programs, and Ecampus on enrollment planning. Assists Student Services and Communications and Marketing in developing program outreach and marketing materials. Assists with planning for outreach and recruitment events and ensures program participation. Reviews undergraduate scholarship applications. 10% – Faculty and GTA Evaluation In collaboration with the Geography and Environmental Sciences Unit Chair, reviews Student Learning Experience Survey of program faculty and works with faculty to improve teaching. Consults with the Director of Graduate Student Services and Development and the CEOAS Assistant/Associate Deans supporting academic programs regarding graduate teaching assistant performance and staffing needs for program courses. |
