Professor (all ranks) in Energy Modeling – Clean Energy Systems Program

Updated: 2 days ago
Location: Tempe, ARIZONA

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and The Polytechnic School seek applicants for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in the area of energy modeling. The Polytechnic School (https://poly.engineering.asu.edu/ ), one of the eight Fulton Schools, houses a vibrant fundamental and applied engineering research community (learn more at https://research.engineering.asu.edu/ ). We seek applicants who can enhance our abilities in energy modeling as part of a thriving community of experts. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, dynamic modeling, simulation, control, and optimization of power electronics or energy systems, enabled by artificial intelligence.

We seek applicants who will contribute to our academic programs, promote transdisciplinary teaching and research, and help the university achieve its aspirations, including enabling student success, transforming society, valuing entrepreneurship, and conducting use-inspired research. Faculty members in the Fulton Schools are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, adopt effective pedagogical practices in the development and delivery of undergraduate and graduate courses, advise both undergraduate and graduate student research and projects, and undertake service activities.

The Polytechnic School supports a research community focusing on energy materials and devices (e.g. batteries, fuel cells, and hydrogen (H2) technologies), solar photovoltaic systems, smart grids, power electronics, and advanced mobility (e.g. multi-vehicle systems, electric vehicles, connected and automated vehicles, vehicle dynamics and control, and shared mobility). Much of this research is conducted in ASU’s newest facility, a more than 176,000 sq. ft. building opened in Fall 2025, promoting the future of clean energy and manufacturing. The Polytechnic campus is also home to faculty research in human-technology systems and engineering education, and has strong and growing ties to aerospace, defense, semiconductor, energy, and other industry sectors that are well represented in the region, one of the most economically robust in the nation (learn more at https://poly.engineering.asu.edu/ ).

The appointment will be at the Assistant/Associate/(Full) Professor rank, commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments, beginning August 2026.
