Position Overview
The postdoctoral appointment in organic chemistry will be carried out in the research program of Dr. Huiqi Ni. The candidate will conduct studies in the area of organic synthesis and catalysis, including methodology development and mechanism investigation. The candidate will be mentoring graduate and undergraduate students and participate in maintaining good safety practices in the laboratory. The candidate will participate in manuscript and grant writing. This is a 12-month position expected to start in July 2026 and may be renewed for a second year upon mutual agreement with the research advisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Perform research in organic chemistry methodology development
-Develop synthetic routes for building block synthesis
-Mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students
-Use and implement safe laboratory practices
-Maintain excellent records of experiments performed
-Attend research meetings, provide research summaries, and present research in formal settings
-Participate in writing manuscripts and grants
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The candidate will have earned a PhD in Chemistry having specialized in organic synthesis with a focus on method development and/or natural product synthesis. Must possess strong communication and analytical skills; thorough knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures; and the ability to implement research projects. Must be willing to work flexible hours as necessary.
