Posting Detail Information
Position Summary
The Department of Earth Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join an interdisciplinary team to populate a new, open-source relational database (RAD-CI) with Greenland-wide radiocarbon-based relative sea level (RSL) data and leverage this dataset for a comprehensive analysis of Greenland RSL changes since the last deglaciation.
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • The analysis will include statistical modeling (e.g., STEHME) to bridge spatial and temporal data gaps and interpolate beyond field-accessible regions.
  • Using the resulting statistical product, the candidate will characterize spatiotemporal trends in Greenland RSL since the last deglaciation, with particular emphasis on the Greenland Ice Sheet history and the influence of the North American Ice Sheet Complex forebulge.
  • The candidate will calculate misfit values between the statistically modeled RSL and glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) model predictions of RSL to identify modifications to the ice history and Earth parameters that may improve data-model agreement.

  • Experience working in field sites on Greenland for data acquisition.
  • Experience working with relational databases.
  • Logistical experience in hosting workshops (related to RAD-CI input techniques).
