Physics Graduate Learning Assistant - Physics & Astronomy

Summary

Create virtual laboratory experiences for students who are taking undergraduate physics classes online.  Virtual labs should provide students with the opportunity to achieve the same learning outcomes as their in-person counterparts.  Taking videos of physics lectures as they are being delivered may also be required.

Essential Functions

  • Providing virtual lab experiences for undergraduate physics courses (e.g., PhET, edited videos of lab exercises being carried out).
  • Organizing videos and other content (digital and physical) and posting on Canvas (or other sites if necessary).
  • Writing lab procedures and posting to Canvas.
  • Grading online Physics labs, responding to student questions, and maintaining a grade book.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Students having completed PHYS 3110 or its equivalent.  Current enrollment or successful completion of PHYS 6010 preferred.
  • Experience in videography, including basic video editing.
  • Must be responsible, dependable and trustworthy; and able to work with little supervision.
  • Must have a BA or BS degree in Physics or a closely related field.
