Position Summary

The UNM College of Education & Human Sciences (COEHS) is offering a unique opportunity for a talented and driven student to serve as a Project Assistant within the Office of Communications & Marketing (OCM).

We are seeking a motivated, creative, focused and accountable candidate with a passion and talent for visual storytelling, and demonstrable experience in various aspects of photography and videography.

The successful applicant will also have numerous opportunities to gain valuable experience in how to positively interact and collaborate with a wide range of faculty, staff and professional students in a variety of settings.

Successful candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Strong communication skills; verbal and written
  • Photographic talent and experience in a broad range of subjects from architectural to human
  • Experience photographing commercially and in smaller formats for social media content creation
  • Intermediate or higher proficiency in the following Adobe Creative Suite Products: Premier, Lightroom, Photoshop, After Effects, etc…
  • Ability to generate ideas and concepts for creative content based on social media schedules and input from a team of creatives
  • Solid knowledge of photo and video hardware
  • Experience working with a pre-planned social media calendar and social media management software
  • Experience in MS360 Applications such as Teams and Outlook
  • Professional student mentality and willingness to learn from feedback and take direction
  • Problem solving skills are a must
  • Description of duties:

  • Provides photography services within the UNM COEHS for social media campaigns, special events, faculty and staff headshots, and general campus culture
  • Collaborates with other creatives for social media campaigns and video storyboarding and messaging strategy.
  • Films and interviews attendees and perform live posts during COEHS events
  • Performs batch processing of images post-shoot and works within the COEHS OCM structure for file saving and sharing
  • Collaborates directly with Marketing Manager on shoot concepts and priorities
  • Supervision, Hours and Environment:

  • Under direct supervision of the Marketing Manager, with tasks assigned and supported by the Unit Marketing Rep.
  • Max 26 hours per week, will work around class and exam schedule
  • 9 to12 - month appointment (summer hours available if qualified)
  • Traditional office setting with some work on location at events on and off campus

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • In-person, on campus position – occasional allowances for remote work are reviewed upon request
  • Must complete UNM Brand training
  • Optional evening or weekend support may be requested – but is optional
  • Must be available at least 20 hours per week
