The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Part-time Math Tutor and Front Desk Associate - Evening on the Oconee campus. This position will tutor all levels of math and statistics offered by the University. Assist students and faculty with all services provided by the Tutoring Center. This position is part time (19 hours per week) during the closing shift (until 8:00 PM) Monday through Thursday in fall and spring semesters. In the summer, the center closes at 6:00 PM, so shift times are adjusted accordingly. This position is not active during breaks, intersession, or whenever classes are not in session.

- Tutor all levels of math and statistics offered by the University.
- Check in/out, maintain, and barcode reserve materials, such as books and calculators for students. Check out and maintain laptops, cameras, LCDs, and other equipment for faculty use.
- Demonstrate the use of calculators, both graphing and non-graphing, and any software used in the math and statistics courses.
- Monitor activities in all open-access computing areas and study rooms.
- Keep computing skills current, particularly the most commonly used software on the network. Participate in appropriate professional development activities. Monitor tutoring lab log in information. Assist students with password issues and additions to print balances.
- Compile, update, and post tutors¿ schedules, including schedule changes as they occur. Administer and monitor make-up tests. Maintain printers/copiers for Tutoring Center.
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication and computing skills.
- Must possess a strong commitment to public service
- Must possess an attention to detail and superior organizational skills; proficiency with graphing calculators.
- Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, faculty, staff, and the general public
- Ability to use the Internet and electronic mail system.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Knowledge of Banner a plus.
- Participate in appropriate professional development activities.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- One year of experience in tutoring and/or teaching required.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office software.
- Math or Math Education degree preferred.
Minimum Starting Salary: $18.34 per hour
