Job Overview

The College of Nursing invites applications from accomplished nurse scientists for a tenure-eligible faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level. We seek a collaborative, innovative leader with a well?established program of research and a strong commitment to advancing nursing science and education.

This 9?month faculty appointment includes teaching across two primary academic semesters with protected research time, which may be increased based on external salary support.

This position is based onsite in Cincinnati, Ohio, with an anticipated start date of August 15, 2026. Following hire, candidates will submit their portfolio for review to determine tenure. Please be aware that UC is unable to provide any type of sponsorship options for hiring in this role.


Essential Functions
  • Maintain an active, externally funded research program
  • Publish regularly in high-impact, peer?reviewed journals
  • Submit large-scale extramural grant applications (NIH, HRSA, PCORI, etc.)
  • Teach at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels based on expertise and program needs
  • Mentor students, postdoctoral fellows and emerging nurse scientists
  • Present research at national and international conferences
  • Provide service to the College, the University, and professional organizations
  • Report to the Associate Dean for Research and PhD Education

 

 


Minimum Requirements

 

  • Demonstrate evidence of effective teaching ability, commitment to student success, and service to the profession.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.
  • Must have outstanding writing skills to present research in written format.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Service or Leadership experience at the regional or national level.

Required Education
  • Must have obtained a Doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited college or university of recognized standing in a field appropriate to the requirements of the position. 

Required Experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research evidenced by strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates for a tenured appointment should demonstrate intellectual leadership and impact on the field and potential significant contributions to the department, University of Cincinnati, and wider scholarly community.
  • Demonstrate evidence of effective teaching ability, commitment to student success, and service to the profession.
  • Demonstrated history of extramural funding supporting a focused program of research
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.
  • Must have outstanding writing skills to present research in written format.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications Considered
  • Eligibility for Ohio RN licensure
  • Minimum of two years of nursing practice experience
