Responsibilities:

The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Retriever Integrated Health is seeking a Part-time Medical Director for the Health Center. The Medical Director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Health & Wellbeing and provides clinical expertise and medical services within Retriever Integrated Health (RIH). This part-time position focuses on providing high-quality patient care, clinical consultation to the integrated care team, and medical oversight to ensure clinical excellence and safety. The Medical Director provides medical expertise to support the integration of medical, counseling, and health promotion services and serves as a clinical resource for complex cases within the integrated health model.

Description of Duties

  • Provides direct primary care to UMBC students, faculty, and staff including gynecology, sports medicine, routine ambulatory, and urgent care services by assessing and identifying problem areas through detailed history, physical exams, and appropriate diagnostic tests, determining appropriate treatment, and prescribing medication within scope of practice in accordance with Maryland Law and DEA regulations
  • Provides clinical consultation and case consultation to integrated care team members including counseling staff, health promotion staff, and nursing staff for complex or high-risk cases requiring medical expertise; provides clinical oversight and consultation regarding medical policies, procedures, clinical protocols, and clinical standards of care; serves as medical resource for complex clinical situations, including consultation with parents, faculty, and staff regarding student health and safety concerns
  • Attends medical team meetings, integrated care team meetings, and RIH leadership meetings to contribute medical expertise, provide clinical perspective on operational decisions, and ensure medical standards and patient safety are maintained across all RIH services
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION

MD or DO degree and Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 8 years of clinical experience in primary care, ambulatory care, or college health setting. Experience working in integrated or collaborative care models. Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical setting.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS

Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Maryland. Current DEA registration. BLS/CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience in college health or university health services. Experience with electronic health records, preferably Point n Click. Experience providing clinical consultation to interdisciplinary teams.

Salary:

Hourly Salary Range: Minimum: $100.00 to Maximum: $112.00, commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Additional Information: This is a temporary position.  Initial contract is for 6 months with the possibility of renewal.
