Job Description

  • Teach a variety of upper-level courses in one or more of the following areas: data science, mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics primarily in an in-person format.
  • Teach a variety of lower-level courses offered by the Department primarily in an in-person format.
  • Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs.
  • Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
  • Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
  • Contribute to student growth and development including student advising.
  • Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community.
  • Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
  • Teach courses using a modern curriculum and innovative methods (e.g. incorporating discipline specific technology, tactile activities, flipped classrooms, project-based learning, etc.).
  • Contribute to the continued improvement of the curriculum in one or more of the following areas: data science, mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics.
  • Supervise student research projects, student internships, or student teaching / field experiences.
     

Salary Range: $64,963 (Asst) - $186,620; Commensurate with Rank, Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D in Data Science, Mathematics, or Statistics, or PhD in Mathematics Education with a 6-12 teaching licensure with an anticipated completion date before August 2026.
  • Experience teaching an undergraduate course as the primary instructor or as a teaching assistant in one or more of the following areas: data science, mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics

  • Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level as the primary instructor in one or more of the following areas: data science, mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach lower-level courses in two or more of the following areas: data science, mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics.
  • Evidence of a commitment to continually improve the curriculum offered by the Department.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise student research projects, student internships, or student teaching / field experiences.
  • Experience in the practical applications of data science, mathematics, or statistics, or experience teaching mathematics or statistics in a 6-12 classroom setting as the instructor of record.
  • Evidence of a commitment to outreach (e.g. develop partnerships with industry or school districts, recruit students, and promote the programs offered by the Department, etc.).
  • Evidence of strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with colleagues.
