Job Summary

Graduate research assistants are generally assigned to individual faculty members to assist with their research, and most of the assigned duties are tied to this research. The nature of the assistance varies by discipline and can involve a variety of activities, such as:

1. Data collection

2. Data analysis

3. Grant writing

4. Participate in meetings and professional-related activities

5. Assist other faculty-specific scholarly activities as needed

6. Participate in writing for conference presentations and journal articles


Additional Information

Applicants must be currently enrolled as full-time doctoral students in Mathematics Education and be in good academic standing. This fellowship is supported by donor funding that requires recipients to demonstrate financial need. Financial need will be determined through Illinois State University’s financial aid process. Applicants must also meet all university eligibility requirements for summer graduate assistantship appointments.


Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$800 per month


Preferred Qualifications

· B.S. degree in mathematics education, education, mathematics, or other related fields

· Master’s degree in mathematics education, education, mathematics, or other related fields

· International students must have shown good academic and communication skills.

· Demonstrated financial need, as determined through ISU's financial aid process.

· Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook, which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf
