Position description
The UCLA Undergraduate Education Initiatives unit seeks a 33% lecturer for Fall, Winter, and Spring (AY 2026-27) to teach a seminar as part of the General Education UCLA Cluster Program. This position includes team-teaching the lectures for Cluster 80: Frontiers in Human Aging, in the Winter and developing and leading a seminar for freshman students from various backgrounds in the Spring.
The Cluster examines the aging process from vantage points of multiple disciplines, including biology, psychology, sociology, ethics, and public policy. Students will study the phenomena of biomedical and biological aging and its psychological, social, and ethical implications. This Cluster incorporates hands-on education through “Elder Interviews” and Community Engagement in the Los Angeles community. We are specifically seeking a scholar who can provide perspectives on the environmental impact on biological aging and sustainable solutions for public health. This position will entail working as part of the teaching team on the generation of writing assignments, exam questions, and grading of student submissions.
This position is represented by the University Council – American Federation of Teachers. Internal applicants will be considered for reappointment prior to the consideration of external applicants.
