Position Summary
Bryant University’s School of Health and Behavioral Sciences (SHBS) invites outstanding and highly motivated educators to apply for a full-time one-year term faculty position with a focus on teaching chemistry. We seek a dynamic faculty member who is passionate about teaching chemistry, with the ability to teach biochemistry and biology as needed, and who is committed to student mentorship and contributing to the growth and vitality of our department. The ideal candidate will bring positive energy, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to excellence in both lecture and laboratory instruction, as well as meaningful engagement in departmental service.
The successful candidate will be a dedicated educator willing to teach chemistry courses across the curriculum, including lower-level science classes for both majors and non-majors in our general education program, as well as upper-level courses in their area of expertise. Teaching assignments will consist of a combination of lecture and laboratory courses. We welcome candidates with strong backgrounds in chemistry and related disciplines such as biochemistry and biology, and particularly value teaching versatility, enthusiasm for working closely with students in both classroom and laboratory teaching settings, and active participation in initiatives that support departmental growth. Preference will be given to candidates who meet all primary qualifications and who also have exposure to or experience with integrating emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, into their pedagogy.
The School of Health and Behavioral Sciences offers undergraduate majors in Biology, Exercise and Movement Science, Health Sciences, and Psychology, a graduate program in Physician Assistant Studies, a 3+1 B.S. to M.S. in Healthcare Informatics, and a Doctor of Clinical Psychology (PsyD). Principal Accountabilities
This term faculty member will provide high-quality learning experiences in both lecture and laboratory settings and actively engage in service activities that support the Department, School, and University.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Teach, and as appropriate develop, undergraduate courses in chemistry, with the ability to teach biochemistry and biology as needed
  • Deliver instruction in both lecture and laboratory formats across a range of chemistry courses
  • Implement innovative teaching methods that incorporate technology to enhance student learning and engagement in both lecture and laboratory settings
  • Contribute to the advancement of the sciences at Bryant through building community partnerships and enhancing experiential learning opportunities
  • Mentor and advise students on academic and career pathways in chemistry and related sciences
  • Develop and/or teach capstone courses in the general education program
  • Assist with development of new undergraduate programs in SHBS
  • Supervise and mentor students in laboratory courses and independent study projects
  • Maintain laboratory safety standards and ensure proper laboratory management
  • Participate in service at the departmental, college, and university levels
  • Demonstrate a commitment toward building an equitable and inclusive scholarly environment
Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • M.S. or PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching in chemistry, with experience in both lecture and laboratory instruction
  • Ability to teach biochemistry and biology courses as needed
  • Willingness and ability to teach chemistry courses at both lower and upper levels
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Experience with laboratory safety protocols and laboratory management
  • Experience with or interest in integrating technology into teaching is valued
  • A commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and to fostering an academic environment that welcomes and supports individuals from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences

  • Systems & Software – proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
  • Team Orientation & Interpersonal skills – highly motivated team player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external organizational partners.
  • Ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural environment.
