Position Summary:

An endoscopy technician plays a crucial role in assisting healthcare professionals during endoscopic procedures, focusing on patient safety and equipment management.

Role and Responsibilities

An endoscopy technician, also known as a gastrointestinal (GI) technician, works closely with physicians and nurses to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using an endoscope. Their primary responsibilities include:

  • Preparing Equipment: Technicians set up and maintain the endoscopic equipment, ensuring it is sterile and functioning properly before procedures.

  • Assisting During Procedures: They assist doctors during endoscopic examinations by handing over instruments, managing patient samples, and ensuring a sterile environment.

Patient Interaction: Endoscopy technicians prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns to help alleviate anxiety.

  • Post-Procedure Care: After the procedure, they clean and sterilize the equipment and the procedure room, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

This position is 4-10 hours shifts. 0700-1730. Must be flexible. Variable day off. On-Call requirement every 6th weekend Saturday 0700-Monday 0630 am. Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of call back.


Position Qualification:

To be successful in this role, endoscopy techs must be:

Able to work in a fast paced environment

Attention to detail

Able to stand for long periods of time

Associates Degree preferred

BLS

Dependable work history

Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred, but will train the right canidate

CBSPD preferred, or must be willing to obtain within one year.

Be willing to take the online 40 hour ASGE GI Tech course upon hire.
