About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT / Systems Analyst Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for students or early-career individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in data analysis, system support, and application development. You will work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to real-world projects that impact business operations.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in analyzing business systems, workflows, and application performance
Support data analysis efforts, including querying databases and building reports
Help maintain and troubleshoot systems, applications, and hardware issues
Collaborate with team members on small development or scripting tasks
Assist in creating dashboards and reports using visualization tools
Document processes, procedures, and technical findings
Participate in testing, debugging, and system improvement initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical Skills & Qualifications

Basic knowledge of SQL or database concepts
Familiarity with Tableau or other reporting/visualization tools
Exposure to programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, or similar)
Interest or exposure to legacy systems such as RPG or COBOL (a plus, not required)
Understanding of web development fundamentals
Exposure to Mainframe environments or Linux/Unix systems a plus
Basic system administration or troubleshooting experience (Windows, servers, or hardware/software issues)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Foundational knowledge of data analysis and systems/applications analysis
Soft Skills

Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently while asking thoughtful questions
Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support multiple functions
Effective time management and adaptability to shifting priorities

Preferred Qualifications

Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Prior coursework or projects related to databases, programming, or system analysis
