Position Summary Information


Position Purpose
The Interim Dean of the College of Science and Technology will provide steady, effective leadership to ensure continuity of operations, academic quality, and progress on key institutional priorities during a one-year appointment. Reporting to the university’s Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs , the Interim Dean is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and administration of the College, including oversight of academic programs, faculty and staff support, budget management, accreditation activities, and student recruitment and retention efforts.
As a member of the Academic Affairs Leadership Team, the Interim Dean will contribute to university-wide decision-making while maintaining a clear focus on operational effectiveness, communication, and alignment across the College’s three-campus structure.
The home campus for this position is flexible and may be Bloomsburg, Lock Haven or Mansfield.
Description of Duties
The Interim Dean will serve as a practical and visible leader, ensuring the College of Science and Technology continues to operate effectively across Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Mansfield during a period of ongoing institutional transition. The Dean will support faculty and staff, maintain academic quality, and ensure that key processes and initiatives remain on track.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the College, including academic programs, scheduling, and personnel coordination across three campuses
  • Supporting faculty and staff through clear communication, responsiveness, and consistent leadership
  • Managing the College budget and resources responsibly, with attention to current constraints and priorities
  • Ensuring continued progress on accreditation, assessment, and compliance requirements
  • Partnering with the Provost and Academic Affairs leadership to implement existing strategic and academic initiatives
  • Maintaining and strengthening relationships with school districts, community partners, and external stakeholders as appropriate
  • Identifying immediate operational challenges and advancing practical, short-term solutions

The Interim Dean is expected to ensure stability, reinforce alignment, and position the College for a successful transition to permanent leadership.

    Background Clearances
    Offers of employment are conditional, pending successful completion of the background clearances mandated by Act 153 of 2014 and Board of Governors Policy 2014-01-A: Protection of Minors. In order to qualify for a provisional appointment, the Applicant Acknowledgement Consent Form, Provisional Hire Form, Pennsylvania State Police and Justifacts portion of the clearance process must be successfully completed prior to your start date. The remaining PA Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Clearance must be successfully completed and returned as soon as possible within the first 90 days of employment.
