The High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP)/Poker Flat Research Range (PFRR) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fiscal Manager to join our dynamic team. As the Fiscal Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing financial operations and ensuring effective resource management for these cutting-edge research facilities. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing comprehensive budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

To excel in this role, you must be detail-oriented, be creative and clear in expressing financial data to a host of recipients, have a solid background in award management, have strong problem-solving skills, and be able to identify and advise on possible solutions. Dynamic critical thinking skills, the ability to work collaboratively, a strong knowledge of research administration, as well as public speaking skills are needed.

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with strong communication skills to support and enhance our financial and business operations. In this role, you’ll partner with leadership, faculty, and funding agencies to manage grant processes, interpret complex guidelines, and ensure compliance with university and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, experience working with financial systems and data, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be comfortable preparing reports, supporting budgeting decisions, and adapting to changing resource needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and 3 years professional fiscal experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Professional licensure preferred (e.g. CPA, CFM). A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

Position Details:

This position will be physically located at the UAF campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. The successful finalist will be expected to report to duty at the UAF office on the first day of employment.


This position is full-time, Grade 80 , term-funded, exempt, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule , based on education and experience.
