Job Description:

Bunker Hill Community College seeks two(2) full-time, tenure-track English Faculty to start in Fall 2026 (semester begins on September 8, 2026). The College is looking for enthusiastic, cutting-edge professionals with teaching credentials and experience to join the English Department. Faculty may be assigned courses at one or more of the College's locations. 

Specific Duties:

  • Teach a range of courses in the English Department, including college writing and literature.
  • Foster a learner-centered environment that values and sustains students success.
  • Teach in different modalities including online, hybrid and remote.
  • Use new technologies in the classroom, as appropriate, to complement and supplement instruction.
  • Work effectively with a diverse student, faculty and staff population.
  • Develop instructional material consistent with course objectives and student learning outcomes and competencies.
  • Teach in learning communities as appropriate.
  • Evaluate student performance in the classroom using outcomes-based assessments.
  • Participate in periodic curriculum and program review, assessment, development and modification.
  • Maintain expertise in area of teaching responsibility.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Actively participate as a faculty member in the general College community and fulfill duties as stipulated in the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Requirements:

The successful candidates must be current in the field, learner-centered and innovative, with a history of teaching experience and a commitment to student success. Candidates should be educators who can demonstrate a passion for teaching and a desire to join faculty and staff to expand and create new strategies for student success.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in English. Master's degree or doctorate in a closely related field with core coursework in English will be considered if graduate transcript(s) are submitted with application.
  • Experience in college-level teaching of English.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse student, faculty and staff population.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments and work areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in English.
  • Experience in teaching at community college.
  • Experience in teaching online, hybrid and remote modalities.
  • Experience integrating reading and writing instruction.
  • Experience in student learning outcomes development and assessment.
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Experience implementing high impact practices, including learning communities, collaborative learning, community-based learning, experiential learning.
  • Experience teaching with embedded tutoring models.
  • Experience using assessment and data analysis for decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting student success initiatives.
  • Our students come from a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and we are dedicated to providing them with the support they need to succeed. While not required, the ability to read, speak, and write in Spanish or another language is preferred.


Additional Information:

Salary: $62,780.00 - $68,484.00 (Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate with Education & Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.) Full Time State Benefited position.
