Job Summary
The Executive Director of University Advancement will function as both the leader for university advancement functions and campaigns as well as President of the UNO Foundation. This position will report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and is responsible for all the University’s development and alumni relations programs. The Executive Director of University Advancement works in close collaboration with the UNO Foundation Board of Directors, other University officers, Deans, and faculty to ensure the University fulfills its mission and is successful in accomplishing its strategic goals.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee and act in a leadership capacity for all fundraising programs including major gifts, annual giving, capital campaigns, alumni relations, planned giving, grants, event planning, and prospect research and development.

  • Will serve as president of the UNO Foundation and will be vested with the core responsibilities typically associated with a Chief Executive position.

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the advancement staff, including efforts at developing and directing staff toward meeting fundraising goals.

  • Lead strategies to strengthen relationships with alumni.

  • Acting as President of the UNO Foundation this role will be responsible for the management and success of all Foundation fundraising programs including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, special events, corporate and foundation giving, grants, and capital gifts.

  • Oversee the management of a portfolio of major gift prospects.

  • Assume responsibility for advancement financial planning, budget control, and the development and monitoring of policies and procedures for the advancement office and the Foundation.

  • Establish appropriate measurement systems for monitoring and evaluating fundraising activities and effectiveness.

  • Provide exemplary management and coach team members toward improved performance.

  • Additional duties assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, plus 10 years of progressively responsible management experience in organizations, including fiscal operations, budgeting, and human resources administration, preferably in a highly complex, decentralized organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent judgment when working with highly confidential and sensitive information.

  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally and effectively with executive and senior leadership and representatives of local, state and national agencies and offices.

  • Exceptional analytical and presentation skills, including the ability to prepare and present planning documents, position papers, and reports.

  • Demonstrated administrative, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with the ability to plan and manage complex programs and projects.

  • Strong collaborative leadership style and team-building skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree

  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership and management level experience in fundraising campaigns and foundations.

  • A passion for and commitment to the University of New Orleans and the ability to articulate its role as a major urban research university
