Job Summary/Description
The Director of AI Education & Learning Innovation provides strategic leadership for integrating artificial intelligence into teaching, learning, and academic innovation across the university. Based within the AI Center of Excellence, this role leads the implementation of AI literacy initiatives campus- and community-wide, support student workers in leading various innovation and AI projects across the university, and plan for and provide opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to effectively use and critically engage with AI technologies. The Director collaborates with faculty, academic departments, instructional designers, and technology leaders to design curriculum frameworks, professional development programs, and research-informed teaching practices that leverage AI to enhance learning outcomes.

Typical Duties/Job Duties
  • Provide strategic leadership for integrating artificial intelligence into teaching, learning, and academic innovation across the university.
  • Develop and implement campus-wide AI literacy initiatives that promote responsible, ethical, and effective use of AI technologies among faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and educational tools to determine their potential value, risks, and applicability in academic settings.
  • Create structured opportunities for student innovation, including labs, project incubators, research experiences, and collaborative initiatives focused on AI and emerging technologies.
  • Supervise and evaluate student project progress and deliverables, ensuring projects meet established goals, quality standards, and institutional expectations.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Knowledge
    • Knowledge of AI literacy frameworks and responsible or ethical AI use in academic environments.
    • Knowledge of curriculum development and the integration of technology‑enhanced learning across disciplines.

    Skills
    • Skilled in strategic planning and implementation of institution‑wide initiatives related to AI in teaching and learning.
    • Skilled in project management and coordination of cross‑functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
    • Skilled in assessing program effectiveness and learning outcomes using data‑informed decision making.
    • Skilled in facilitating professional development workshops, training sessions, and learning communities related to AI and innovation.

    Abilities
    • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop student workers and project teams.
    • Ability to build partnerships with academic departments, technology leaders, and external organizations to advance AI education initiatives.
    • Ability to architect and implement university‑based learning opportunities that support AI experimentation, research, and hands‑on learning.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, education, AI, data science, or related field from an accredited university.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master’s degree in computer science, education, AI, data science, or related field from an accredited university
