CORE JOB SUMMARY:

The Director, Athletics Production Services serves as the lead producer for university produced broadcasts on ESPN’s family of linear and digital networks.  This role ensures all broadcasts meet ESPN production standards, acts as lead producer for university produced linear and digital productions and manages Ross XPressions graphics and EVS instant replay infrastructure.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

Act as lead producer for select broadcasts on the ESPN family of networks:

  • Identify storylines for broadcast use.
  • Coordinate with on-air talent.
  • Ensure all ESPN promotional and sales obligations are met.
  • Ensure all graphics meet ESPN consistency guidelines.

Manage Ross Xpression graphics systems:

  • Ensure necessary projects and graphics packages are properly loaded.
  • Properly install and test project updates.
  • Organize files in a logical manner.

Manage EVS XT-VIA instant replay systems.

Train student-workers for linear and digital production roles:

  • Identify students with the aptitude necessary to perform roles on both digital and linear broadcasts.
  • Teach students how to operate GFX, replay, and various other broadcast positions.

Occasional below-the-line duties on studio productions.

Occasionally fill other below- and above-the-line roles during digital and linear broadcasts.

Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:

  • Strong knowledge of broadcasting standards and procedures.
  • Effective communication in both written and oral form.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Composure during stressful broadcast situations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
