Custodial Worker 1

East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Custodial Worker 1! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.    
 
As the Custodial Worker 1, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable completing routine custodial care for the University Buildings and surrounding grounds. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team and will work closely with the Manager of Building Care Services to help achieve consistent building care for ESU. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your custodial and maintenance experience while safely using cleaning products to sanitize the buildings and surrounding area. To be successful in this role, you must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and have time management skills.     
  
Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 11:00 PM to 07:00 AM. You may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Custodial Worker 1. Indoor work is 90% of the role with 10% of the role occasionally completed outside in the snow and or rain. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.  

What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, waxes, and buffs floors. 
  
• Cleans, dusts, and polishes furniture and fixtures. 
  
• Washes and cleans windows, walls, and doors. 
  
• Cleans toilets, sinks, and mirrors in restrooms and replaces restroom supplies. 
  
• Utilizes tools and equipment of the custodial trade in the performance of cleaning tasks. 
  
• Gathers and disposes of waste products, recyclable materials, infectious waste, and hazardous materials according to safe material handling guidelines. 
  
• Moves furniture and equipment when necessary to perform custodial tasks. 
  
• Secures and maintains cleaning equipment; requests, picks up, and stores related supplies. 
  
• Reports needed repairs to crew leader or supervisor. 
  
• Shovels snow, sweeps and cleans walks, and assists in keeping immediate outside premises and building entrances in an orderly condition. 
  
• Performs incidental assignments, such as removing ashes, replacing lightbulbs, and making simple repairs. 
  
• Documents work performed. 

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
  
• Able to lift, push, pull, or carry 50lbs. 
  
• Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
