Provide general admin/office support.
Responsibilities
CPD General Responsibilities:
  • Provide quality customer service and accurate information over the phone, via email, and in-person.
  • Ensure front office is tidy.
  • Greet guests with professionalism and tact
  • Check-in students in Handshake for appointments and drop-ins
  • Receive and sort mail
  • Support and assist with in-person and virtual events from start to end
  • Monitor inventory and order supplies
  • Help with research and data projects using Excel and Word when available.
  • Help with documentation projects using Word, PowerPoint, Snipping tools, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Support additional functional area


Functional Areas:

Events
Event Assistants collaborate with professional staff to plan, prepare, and execute events such as Career Fairs, Networking Nights, and Senior Week. This position offers hands-on experience in event planning, logistics, teamwork, and problem solving, while helping create seamless and memorable experiences for fellow students and campus guests. Because every event is different, responsibilities vary and offer opportunities to learn new skills throughout the semester. Responsibilities may include:
  • Create and plan simple signage to guide attendees at events
  • Prepare event supplies, carry A-Frames, EZ ups and water cases, assist event setup and load-in
  • Review and interpret detailed event diagrams to facilitate setup and execution
  • Note that many tasks require standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling
  • Utilize campus resources:
  • Space Reservations: Reserve campus spaces using 25Live software
  • Periodically drive Electric Service Vehicle cart (golf carts)

Marketing
Students collaborating with the Office of Career and Professional Development (CPD) on marketing initiatives will contribute to one or more of the following focus areas, depending on skills and interests:
  • Graphic Design: Conceptualize and create original graphics, flyers, and visual assets for multiple platforms, including email communications, social media, the CPD website, presentations, and digital signage.
  • Copywriting: Develop clear, engaging written content for CPD communications, such as newsletters and event promotions, and announcements. This includes building and sending mass messages using platforms like Campaign Monitor and the Handshake email tool.
  • Social Media Management: Curate content calendars and support the management of CPD’s social media channels. Responsibilities include collaborating with graphic designers to create posts and reels, adapting content to current trends, and promoting CPD programs and resources.
  • Multimedia Content Creation: Produce engaging short-form and educational video content, including filming, editing, and original video development. Projects may include CPD educational and informational videos for workshops, programs, and student resources, as well as short‑form videos for social media. This area may also include photographing CPD events and assisting with professional headshot photos for students.

Students typically focus on one primary area, with opportunities to explore additional skills over time.
Required Qualifications
Little to minimal prior experience. Ability to learn support process. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Special Instructions to Applicants
We do have some flexibility with the schedules working between the hours of 8:00 – 5:00.
