Description

The Department of Economics in the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University seeks qualified applicants to join its existing team of innovative teaching professionals.

Clinical professors contribute to the institution’s mission by providing high-quality instruction and fulfilling department and college service obligations.  Excellent teaching is highly valued at the W. Carey School of Business.  Professional development opportunities, mentorship, and leadership opportunities are available.  In addition, there is a well-defined path to career progression of clinical assistant, associate, and full professor.

The positions are full-time, permanent positions with no tenure implication. Contracts are renewed annually contingent upon availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and the needs of the university. Salary is competitive and dependent upon qualifications, experience, and rank.

Essential Functions:
Successful candidates will be expected to effectively teach seven (7) courses per academic year.  Clinical professors teach large introductory classes of principles and/or statistics in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.  Clinical professors may also be asked to teach at any of ASU’s campuses in the Phoenix metropolitan area.  In addition to introductory courses, candidates may have the opportunity to teach intermediate, or elective undergraduate and masters-level courses.  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
All candidates must have 1) a PhD in Economics in hand by August 2026 and 2) a demonstrated interest in teaching in the field of economics.

Desired Qualifications:

Evidence of successful teaching in large classes.

Demonstrated use of innovative teaching practices.

Experience teaching online.

Experience or demonstrated interest in teaching intermediate microeconomic theory and/or international economics

Research activity sufficient to maintain “scholarly academic” status under The W.P. Carey School of Business and AACSB guidelines.

Demonstrated knowledge of artificial intelligence through innovative teaching practices, cutting-edge research, and/or through leadership in academic or professional communities.

The initial application deadline is April 12, 2026. Applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis for a reserve pool.  Applications in the reserve pool may then be reviewed in the order in which they were received until the position is filled. Candidates will be asked to create or use an exisiting Interfolio Dossier to submit the following:

1) A cover letter addressing the above qualifications;
2) Evidence of effective teaching that includes a teaching statement, course syllabi, and full course evaluations;
3) a curriculum vitae;  
4) two or three (preferred) confidential letters of recommendation
