Job Description:


Tennessee State University Office of Technology Services invites applications for the position of Classroom Technology Technician.
The Classroom Technology Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive technical support for audiovisual equipment in classrooms, conference rooms, and auditoriums at Tennessee State University. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and enhancing classroom technology to ensure a seamless learning experience for faculty and students. This position will also assist the classroom technology needs and support campus events that require A/V support as well. This is a full-time, on-site position with a work schedule aligned with the University's standard operating hours. The candidate must be available to work evenings, weekends, or adjusted schedule as necessary to address emergency, maintenance, or event support services.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, upgrade, repair, and trouble shoot audiovisual equipment, control systems, networking, computers, and other technology related systems in classrooms, auditoriums, and conference rooms.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of classroom technology systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to audiovisual equipment and classroom technology, providing timely solutions to minimize disruptions.
  • Educate faculty and staff on the effective use of classroom technology, offering demonstrations and creating detailed user guides as needed.
  • Work closely with the Manager of Classroom Technology and other OTS staff to coordinate vendor installations/maintenance, identify technology needs and implement improvements.
  • Create/maintain/update work orders/tickets via incident management system.
  • Maintain an inventory of audiovisual equipment, ensuring all items are in good working condition, properly documented and stored.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance technical skills.
  • Assist in designing new solutions for classrooms and conference rooms. 
  • Assist with setting up projectors, sound systems and other A/V equipment for campus events.
