Summary:
The Center for Latin American & Latino Studies (CLALS) engages scholars and practitioners to promote cutting-edge research to enrich understanding of Latin America and of Latino communities in the US. CLALS is hiring students.
Student Assistants will be expected to provide research, administrative, and logistical support for the Center for Latin America & Latino Studies’ Director, faculty, staff, and fellows, as called upon. Responsibilities will likely include assisting with the collection and processing of project data and event preparation.

Other duties assigned.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Part-time.
15 - 25 hours per week.
Salary Range:
$20.00 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
Candidates must be students in good standing in one of American University’s programs.
Applicants must be dependable, show attention to detail, have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Excellent research, writing, and editing ability are essential along with good computer and IT skills.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Preference will be given to candidates who are studying fields related to Latin America and/or Latino communities in the US and have strong Spanish/and or Portuguese language skills.
Production skills such as creating videos, podcasts, digital editing, and infographics are highly desirable.
