Summary

Purpose: This position records on- and off-campus news and feature content with a journalist, storytelling perspective for BG Falcon Media. This position can be used for Visual Communications Technology students seeking co-op credit in pursuit of fulfilling their co-op requirement for degree completion.
Work as staff under the guidance/supervision of the BG Falcon Media creative director. Capture and create digital assets for online consumption of BG Falcon Media and its business units. Direct subjects during video shoots when appropriate, record candid moments and capture opportunities that tell a story with video.

Essential Functions

  • Fulfill news and feature videography assignments for BG Falcon Media, including the website, the BG News, BG24, and social media platforms.
  • Contribute ideas to create best supporting video content for story assignments.
  • Gather identifying information of subjects to create captions.
  • Edit video using Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Re-edit video content to be used across multiple platforms.
  • Make light, color/contrast adjustments to finished work as needed to maximize publishing quality.
  • Upload/manage digital assets to digital asset management software (ZDam).


Minimum Qualifications

  • Junior or Senior standing at the beginning of the academic year. (VCT student from the College of Technology, Architecture and Engineering, Visual Communication Technology program preferred).
  • Available to work 20hrs/week
  • Video and photography experience, strong sense of composition and editing, experience capturing audio and editing.
  • Experience editing a piece of content for multiple platforms.
