Job Description
The Automotive and Collision Program Lab Coordinator will create standard operating procedures for the lab and common curriculum templates, making revisions to curriculum templates and standard operating procedures to keep the automotive program up to date and competitive. This position will work with students during lab activities and observe the effectiveness of each lab task and as needed. This position will work alongside the lab technician to assure all automotive and collision repair labs, equipment, tools, and vehicles are maintained and repaired as needed to maintain safety and reliability of curriculum delivered. This position will maintain inventory (including donations and other assets.) and lead the Student Auto Club.
Description of Duties and Tasks
  • Develop lab tasks and curriculum aligned with ASE Education Foundation accreditation tasks.
  • Develops lab standard operating procedures for lab staff, instructors, and students to include safety, tool and equipment checkout, vehicle operation, group work, etc.
  • Revises lab curriculum based on observations made during implementation to gain critical feedback from students and instructors.
  • Completes safety, tools and equipment section for ASE Education Foundation accreditation.
  • Plan and deliver student recruitment and retention activities and events.
  • Coordinates the receiving and down donation of vehicles and other equipment.
  • Provide career counseling and academic advising to incoming and continuing students.
  • Build and serve as liaison for the student auto club for increased student engagement.
  • Integrate NOVA core values into the lab environment.
  • Coordinates with Lab Manager with the set up of all lab stations with necessary tools, equipment, vehicles, and lab curriculum for each lab session.
  • Ensure vehicles are operational and repaired or arrange for repair as needed.
  • Tracks lab vehicle use and operation capabilities.
  • Maintain records of vehicle maintenance, repairs completed and requested.
  • Maintain records of shop equipment maintenance, repairs, and repairs requested.
  • Identify, report and track safety concerns.
  • Maintain inventory.
  • Identify, procure and purchase needed tools, equipment, and supplies for the automotive and collision programs.
  • Completes projects as indicated by the program head.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
