Position Summary
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a pediatric ophthalmologist with a track record in healthcare leadership and program development for the position of Section Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain effective education programs in Pediatric Ophthalmology for medical students and residents. Collaborate with other faculty in maintaining excellence in general pediatric education.
- Stimulate and nurture scholarly activity within the Division and strengthen current research portfolio.
- Expand clinical service program to meet regional needs.
- Develop a vision for expansion and growth of current clinical services.
- Provide leadership to support the faculty in the Division of Ophthalmology to achieve excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
- To sustain an existing supportive and collaborative environment for other subspecialists thus facilitating programs that care for high complexity patients.
- To support quality improvement efforts and safety initiatives within the Division and Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
- Direct and conduct his/her own research in Pediatric Ophthalmology
- Provide care for patients with Ophthalmologic diseases admitted to Children’s Hospital of Illinois, consultation and support to other services and manage patients in ambulatory clinics.
- Collaborate with other ancillary services to provide high quality, safe, and individualized patient, and family centered care.
- Perform duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and administration
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD/DO or compatible degree international medical degree
- 3 years ophthalmology residency and 1-year AAPOS approved pediatric ophthalmology fellowship.
- Board Certified in Ophthalmology
- Eligible for licensure in Illinois
- 3-5 year Clinical experience in the field of pediatric ophthalmology
- Experience in teaching medical students and residents in the area of pediatric ophthalmology
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership experience in program development
- Mentorship of other faculty clinicians.

Innovation, is a collaboration between University of Illinois College of
Medicine Peoria and OSF HealthCare. Jump replicates a variety of patient care
settings to ensure novice and seasoned clinicians can practice handling medical

The budgeted salary
range for the position is $320,000 to $370,000 per year.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
